Crimpless connectors

Crimpless connectors for 1-mm plastic optical fiber require no special tools or extra components (such as crimp rings). For use with Versatile Link fiber-optic transmitters and receivers, hfbr-453X connectors use a snap-together assembly using only a wire stripper, scissors and 600-grit sandpaper. Polishing of the fiber end with conventional 600-grit sandpaper is required, with a fine polish using 3-micron lapping film recommended. Connectors are constructed of flame-resistant ultem plastic and feature high-retention force and reliability.
