Gigabit Ethernet transceiver

The VSC7135 single-chip, fully integrated 1.25-Gbit/sec transceiver features digital clock and data recovery, on-chip high-speed clock generation for transmission and 700-mW power dissipation. The unit suits physical-layer interface requirements of Gigabit Ethernet or 100Base-T applications. It accepts 10-bit 8B/10B encoded transmit data, latches it onto the rising edge of refclk and serializes it onto the TX pecl differential outputs. Operating from a single 3.3V supply, the transceiver is available in a 14-mm pqfp package. It can function with a junction temperature to 110°C. Sampling is currently available, and volume production is scheduled for first quarter 1997.
