1310-nm optical transmitter

Apollo II AM cable-TV optical transmitters consist of RF drivers, distributed-feedback laser diode and predistortion electronics. The transmitters provide a 12- to 13-dB link budget for 80-channel National Television Standards Committee systems for a carrier-to-noise ratio of 51 to 50 dB. Other optical link budgets are also available. Carrier-to-noise ratio ranges from 55 dB at a 7-dB link loss to less than 46 dB at a 17-dB link loss.
