in Paris has won a series of contracts in Thailand and Vietnam, totaling French Fr. $1 billion (US$196 million). The company plans to provide 300,000 digital lines and 200 optical-transmission links to a private Thai operator, T T&T. Alcatel was also awarded an order from the private operator Jasmine Submarine Telecom Networks for Synchronous Digital Hierarchy technology transmission equipment. The company has obtained an order in Vietnam for 100,000 switching lines from the public operator Vietnam Post and Telecommunication.
