Dual laser source

The 262A palm-sized dual-wavelength laser source provides for two calibrated laser outputs at 1310 and 1550 nm. With only one output port, the fiber does not have to be disconnected when switching between wavelengths. The unit allows for basic continuous-wavelength operation and modulated output with three modulation frequencies: 270 Hz, 1 kH¥and 2 kHz. The universal connector interface accommodates industry-standard fiber-optic connectors. Power output for both lasers is -7 dBm ۪.5 dB and spectral width is less than 5 nm. Two AA alkaline batteries provide more than 50 hours of power. The 60 ¥ 140 ¥ 25-mm instrument weighs 8 oz. and has an operating temperature of -15° to +55°C. The dual laser source aids in connector-loss and continuity testing and system maintenance, and tests singlemode fiber-optic links. The device costs $3400, including adapters and a universal connector interface.
