Name change

AT&T`s computer unit, AT&T Global Information Solutions, Dayton, OH, has changed its name back to NCR Corp., in anticipation of being spun off as an independent, publicly traded company by January 1997. AT&T announced last September that it would separate into three publicly traded, global companies (see Lightwave, November 1995, page 1): AT&T, which will provide communications services; an as yet unnamed systems and technology company; and NCR. AT&T Global Information Solutions had to change its name because it will no longer be permitted to use the AT&T name and logo after the spinoff.
