48 C-Band channel card

Nov. 1, 2000

Lightchip allows for DWDM expansion by providing 48 channels on a single card in the existing system chassis. This card also features low insertion loss, minimizing or eliminating the need for optical amplifiers, and provides for full single-fiber bidirectionality, eliminating the cost of a second fiber span or additional ports at either end. Lightchip`s athermal design enhances network reliability by eliminating the need for external heating or cooling. The new card interfaces directly to the Lightchip optical performance monitoring system.
