Laser-based transmitter and receiver modules are compatible with SONET/SDH standards, which allow fault-tolerant high-speed digital traffic ranging from 51 Mbits (SONET) or 156 Mbits (SDH) to multiple gigabits per second. The devices support up to 40-km transmission distances and are suited for 10-Gbit/s data network and telecommunication applications such as ultrahigh-capacity routers and WDM transmission systems.
