Telia refocuses IC business

Oct. 1, 2002

Telia is restructuring its Telia International Carrier business by closing several locations and halving its staff from 800 to 400.

Telia IC will limit operations to wholesale capacity and IP services for large customers over the profitable parts of its Viking network.

The restructuring includes shut-down of: Telia's Asian operation; the national UK voice reseller business; the US capacity services; and the co-location business. The number of commercial points of presence will be reduced.

The refocusing means a scale down of the number of offices, technical facilities, operation and maintenance contracts as well as leased lines.
