New optical expo challenges ECOC

The first European expo dedicated to fibre-optic communications will take place at Munich Messe (fairground) from 4-6 June, covering components, systems, network design and development, and measuring and testing technologies. With 100 exhibitors in 5,000m2 of exhibition space, up to 5000 visitors are expected.

The LightComm 2002 conference from 4-5 June in the adjacent ICM International Congress Centre is sponsored by Lightwave Europe's publisher Pennwell Corp and focuses on:

  • Metro Strategies, including WDM networks; data services; subscriber network architectures; IP service provision; carrier perspectives;
  • Technology Options, including tunable technologies; 40Gbit/s technologies; switching; network management, test and measurement; and a market outlook.
