Corning restructures key management

May 1, 2002

Corning Incorporated has "streamlined" its key management structure, primarily in its Optical Communications organisation.

"Our commitment to optical communications remains strong. We continue to believe that the fundamental drivers of the optical layer, bandwidth growth and the need for lowest cost by carriers, will drive the use of optical equipment," said Wendell Weeks, Corning's president and COO.

Alan Eusden has been appointed senior vice president, Global Business Support Services. Since 1998, he had been vice president and general manager, Optical Fiber.

Robert B Brown is named vice president and general manager, Optical Fibre.

Corning's Optical Networking Devices and Photonic Technologies divisions will be integrated into a single business unit, headed by

Dr Gerald J Fine, who will assume the title of senior VP and general manager, Corning Photonic Technologies.

Corning has "regretfully" accepted the resignation of Sanford D Lyons, president and chief executive officer, Corning Cable Systems, who has resigned from the company.
