August 16, 2006 Sunnyvale, CA -- Maxim Integrated Products today introduced the MAX9450/MAX9451/MAX9452 series of high-performance clock generators available with three types of outputs: LVPECL (MAX9450), LVDS (MAX9451), and HSTL (MAX9452).

By integrating the VCXO, PLL, buffer, and clock source, the MAX945x clock generators save cost and space over a discrete solution, say company representatives. The MAX945x devices also have redundant inputs, making them ideal for applications that require holdover if an input fails.

The MAX945x series accepts inputs from 8 kHz to 500 MHz and drives outputs up to 160 MHz. The devices also feature clock output jitter less than 0.8 PSrms in a 12-kHz to 20-MHz band. According to the company, these low-jitter clock generators ensure reliability in the system and jitter performance, making them perfect for SONET/SDH data-communications systems and base station applications.

The MAX945x devices are guaranteed for operation over the -40 ° C to +85 ° C temperature range. They operate from a 2.4- to 3.6-V supply and are available in 32-pin TQFP packages with exposed paddles. Prices start at $10.85 in quantities of 10,000 or more.
The MAX945x series clock generators integrate the VCXO, PLL, buffer, and clock source.
