January 26, 2006 San Francisco, CA -- Yipes Enterprise Services announced that it has been granted a second U.S. patent for its IP-over-fiber technology for enterprises. According to a press release, the patent award follows a complementary 2004 patent the company received for its Service Level Management (SLM) technology.

The company says it received its latest patent for network technology that enables managed services using IP-over-fiber, specifically extending Ethernet LAN connectivity into metro-area environments. Yipes says the patent (US6,963,575) is the foundation for the company's ability to deliver scalable Ethernet services to enterprise customers across its Gigabit network.

The 2004 patent (US6,681,232) recognized the company's development of its customer-centered SLM tool. The company says its SLM technology opened the door for customer-controlled service provisioning, allowing users to make on demand service changes in seconds instead of in days or weeks.

The SLM-patented technology is the basis for the company's YipesNOW product, which is designed to provide instantly scalable bandwidth-on-demand in 1 Mbit/sec increments. According to the company, customers pay only for bandwidth requested, resulting in flexibility for managing new application requirements or responding to real-time needs or emergencies.

"We developed these new systems and ideas with the belief that enterprise Ethernet would become a vital tool in addressing exploding demands for bandwidth, security, and network simplicity," comments Dr. Kamran Sistanizadeh, chief technology officer and co-founder of Yipes. "That vision has proven correct, and we've only begun to fully explore and leverage the potential benefits inherent in these technologies."
