NOVEMBER 2, 2006 -- Siemens (search for Siemens) and Juniper Networks, Inc. (search for Juniper) say that Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (SingTel) has deployed Juniper Networks' SDX Service Deployment System and E-series Broadband Services Routers to support the introduction of new premium IP services, including a new bandwidth-on-demand service. With the E-series and SDX, SingTel customers will be able to dynamically request and change their bandwidth metrics, throttling connection speeds from 125 kbits/sec up to as much as 25 Mbits/sec.

"The SDX-300 enables us to offer a broad set of unique new services, such as on-demand bandwidth, without adding operational complexity to our network," said Tan Seow Nguan, SingTel's director of network systems engineering. "By automating the service provisioning process, the SDX-300 supports Singtel's efforts to give our valued customers greater control of their broadband experience. The combination of E-series infrastructure and SDX-300 automation opens an entirely new revenue stream for us, while ensuring our customers have access to unique and compelling services."

The Juniper Networks E-series Broadband Services Router is a central component of SingTel's broadband edge network, delivering advanced features and capabilities that ensure QoS, support high availability, and improve automation for advanced services. The SDX-300 Service Deployment System is a policy and resource manager, managing millions of subscribers for over 100 service providers worldwide. The equipment combination gives SingTel customers the ability to manage a wider variety of services themselves, including flexible billing options, variable bandwidth speeds, and per-service quality metrics.

"SingTel's choice of Siemens as the preferred partner for integrating its broadband IP infrastructure is a clear affirmation of our technical expertise as well as the quality of support we have been providing," said Joerg Kessler, senior vice president and head of Siemens Communications - Singapore. "We are delighted to once again play a pivotal role in delivering innovation through the implementation of the SDX."

"Juniper works hard to bring cutting-edge solutions to leading service providers such as SingTel," said Brad Gray, vice president of South Asia Pacific for Juniper Networks. "The advanced technology implemented in the E-series and SDX provide SingTel with service reliability, flexibility, and performance at scale -- all of which will enable them to continue to drive revenue growth and attract new customers."
