Banco Real ABN Amro chooses Nortel optical gear
June 22, 2006 Sao Paulo, Brazil -- Banco Real ABN Amro, a leading financial institution in Brazil, has quadrupled the capacity of its network with optical equipment from Nortel, helping ensure uninterrupted access to business-critical information in real-time.
The new 320-Gbit/sec network will place Banco Real ABN Amro among the financial institutions with the highest site-to-site transmission rate, providing the network speed and efficiency needed for applications that require high bandwidth, such as electronic transactions, voice, and data applications. In addition, the network will provide more reliable backup and redundancy.
"The Nortel Optical Metro 5200 solution is ideal for Banco Real ABN Amro to build a high-performance multiservice platform to link large servers at the bank's main data processing sites," said Inacio de Freitas, manager, corporate market, Nortel Brazil. "The optical platform is designed to be scaled to the company's needs, accommodating future user growth and new, advanced services."
Banco Real ABN Amro chose Nortel for its reliable offerings, expertise, and global leadership, according to the equipment vendor.
