OCTOBER 25, 2006 -- Alloptic, Inc. (search for Alloptic) has been selected to support St. Olaf College's fiber-optic access network expansion. With a gigabit of bandwidth, Alloptic's GEPON (search for GEPON) optical access network equipment will provide the campus and the Northfield, MN, community a network capable of supporting a continuum of services, including TDM voice, RF video, and IP video.
"We evaluated many different options and vendor solutions," said Craig Dunton, director of telecommunications for St. Olaf College. "To be successful in a converged services world, you need to align yourself with a proven solution. Alloptic's global experience of providing voice, data, and video services was just the ticket. Their Ethernet-based platform allows us to leverage our existing labor pool, and having been the first to deploy IPTV services in 2003, means that we can offer and deliver superior services to our customers on day one of service."
"Alloptic has a long history of providing fiber-to-the-business solutions," said Shane Eleniak, vice president of business development and marketing for Alloptic. "Our solution is an excellent fit for St. Olaf as it provides the business services the Northfield community is demanding while providing the integrated access capabilities the campus requires. All from a single, Ethernet-based platform."
