Indoor/outdoor plenum cable features up to 144 fiber count options

May 3, 2006 Claremont, NC -- CommScope has expanded its Uniprise optical fiber non-conductive plenum (OFNP) line of loose tube cabling to include up to 144-fiber count options. The company says the plenum-rated stranded loose tube cable is designed with a totally dry construction, utilizing the company's Arid-Core technology under the outer jacket, as well as dry buffer tubes with water-blocking tapes and yarns to prevent moisture migration.

May 3, 2006 Claremont, NC -- CommScope has expanded its Uniprise optical fiber non-conductive plenum (OFNP) line of loose tube cabling to include up to 144-fiber count options.

The company says the plenum-rated stranded loose tube cable is designed with a totally dry construction, utilizing the company's Arid-Core technology under the outer jacket, as well as dry buffer tubes with water-blocking tapes and yarns to prevent moisture migration.

According to the company: the cable features easy-to-identify, standard color-coded buffer tubes and fibers; the jacket is UV-stabilized black with optional co-extruded color stripes; there are no messy filling gels to remove; and the product meets NEC requirements for OFNP (Plenum) rating (Article 770). The cable, which is RoHS compliant, offers indent imprinting for added durability; custom jacket printing is also available for easy identification.

Because the cable is both plenum-rated and suitable for outdoor applications, it's an excellent cabling choice in campus environments for building-to-building links without the need for transition splices, says the company. The company says the cable's lightweight, easy-to-access dielectric design requires no grounding; for additional installation ease, the product can be installed using standard loose tube methods and hardware.

The cable is suitable for direct burial, duct, or aerial (lashed) installations and is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications including densely populated buildings, LANs, factory automation, critical data lines, video and robotics applications, and commercial construction.
