MARCH 15, 2007 -- Fiberxon (search for Fiberxon) today announced the availability of a GPON (search for GPON) optical line terminal (OLT) transceiver with fast digital receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) functionality for high-speed and huge-capacity access network applications.
The new OLT transceiver product is designed to help FTTH operators monitor the received optical signal strength from each ONT within 5 µ s and supports 2.488 Gbits/sec downstream and 1.244 Gbits/sec upstream asymmetrically. The recently released products are available in both Small Form Factor (SFF) and Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP), working at 1490-nm and 1310-nm wavelength respectively.
These products will be in display in Booth#1401 at next week's Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference in Anheim, CA, March 27-29, 2007.
"The OLT transceiver with fast digital RSSI functionality is a new addition to our full portfolio of GPON product line offerings, » notes Jack Lu, acting president and CEO of Fiberxon. « We are pleased that we are able to bring such high performance products to the market, and will continue to dedicate resource to R&D for technology innovations and the full support to our customers."
"Using this mechanism combined with DDMI [digital diagnostic monitoring interface] functionalities, FTTH operators can lower their operational expenditure by monitoring the real time status of optical distribute network (ODN), even down to every single optical network terminal," adds Dr. Charpen Zhang, vice president of PON PLG at Fiberxon,
Fiberxon OLT transceivers with fast digital RSSI have been tested according to related product safety and electromagnetic compatibility regulations of the U.S. and European Community. And they are RoHS-compliant products.
