World Wide Packets and Mediatrix partner to deliver integrated VoIP, data services

MARCH 19, 2007 -- World Wide Packets (search for World Wide Packets), provider of Carrier Ethernet equipment, and Mediatrix Telecom, provider of voice-over-Internet Protocol (search for VoIP) access devices and gateways, today announced a strategic partnership that will integrate World Wide Packets' LightningEdge Carrier Ethernet technology with Mediatrix's VoIP platform.

The combination of these offerings will enable both World Wide Packets and Mediatrix to expand their customer reach by delivering scalable, cost-effective Carrier Ethernet-grade VoIP and data services in one seamless platform, say representatives of the companies.

Per the agreement, World Wide Packets and Mediatrix will closely integrate their respective product lines to offer current and prospective customers an attractive option for triple-play service delivery. The integration will significantly widen each company's customer reach, enabling them to break into new markets. As a result, the companies say their customers will benefit from solutions that deliver fast, scalable, and cost-effective voice, video, and data services with unparalleled quality of service (QoS).

"We have been successful in focusing on the SMB market, but as the company grows we're looking expand our penetration with larger-tier customers and we recognized that diversifying our offering was a key step," explains Marc Skinner, director of sales-Americas for Mediatrix. "World Wide Packets is a known leader in Carrier Ethernet delivery and has a proven track record with global leaders in the telecommunications space. Based on its expertise and reputation in data service delivery, it is a very desirable partner."

World Wide Packets and Mediatrix will continue ongoing research and development to expand this joint offering. Both companies have diverse product lines, World Wide Packets with its LightningEdge (search for ) Carrier Ethernet Delivery Platform and Mediatrix with its analog and digital VoIP devices. As the relationship matures, the companies say they will leverage their depth of expertise to deliver offerings for all Carrier Ethernet triple-play services, specifically voice and data, to global service providers, multi-tenant units (MTU) and multi-dwelling units (MDU).
