JUNE 18, 2007 -- Emery Telecommunications & Video has selected ECI Telecom equipment for a statewide fiber transport network.

JUNE 18, 2007 -- Emery Telecommunications & Video (ETV), a subsidiary of independent telco Emery Telcom and a member of Utah Fiber Networks, LLC (UFN), has selected ECI Telecom's (search for ECI Telecom) XDM All-Range ROADM and Converged Multi-Service Transport Platform (MSTP) for a statewide fiber transport network. ETV's upgraded infrastructure will facilitate the deployment of advanced data and video services throughout the region.

By deploying multi-degree ROADMs, ETV improves the availability and reliability of broadband data and video services for residential and business subscribers, educational institutes, and government agencies, says ECI. This approach provides ETV with the flexibility necessary to modify and scale its optical, Ethernet, and SONET infrastructure, so it can quickly and cost-effectively respond to local demand in real time, the company adds.

"ECI's ROADM solution delivers a cost effective infrastructure that can dynamically adapt to changing subscriber demands, making the Utah Fiber Network a showcase for other independent telephone companies," said Brock Johansen, CEO of ETV. "By leveraging the XDM's integrated long-haul capabilities and multi-service functionality, we can significantly reduce our total network cost while increasing our service agility a win-win situation."

"By choosing ECI's Multi-Degree ROADM, Emery Telcom joins a rapidly growing global list of carriers, demonstrating the innovation and leadership necessary in today's competitive environment," said Emanuel Nachum, vice president Americas marketing, ECI Telecom. "Emery Telcom is one of the driving forces in building a statewide network for the broadband benefit of all their customers. We are proud to be a part of this effort."

ETV is leveraging the XDM's integrated platform with Ethernet and SONET functionality in a 10-degree ROADM DWDM system, to support forty 10-Gbit/sec wavelengths over a 300-mile network.

Based in Orangeville, UT, Emery Telcom was formed as a cooperative in 1950. It serves thousands of telephone customers throughout communities in Carbon, Emery, Grand, and Wayne Counties providing local and long distance services, internet access, cable television, and advanced telecommunications such as DSL and other high-speed digital Internet connections.
