March 19, 2004 San Jose, CA -- Sunrise Telecom Inc. announced its newest addition to the SunSet MTT platform -- the variable optical attenuator (VOA) module. The module complements the existing series of optical modules and should aid metro and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network deployments.

The VOA module helps determine a fiber link's optical margin, for performing insertion loss testing and verification as well as for providing power control and equalization on the network. The module supports a wide attenuation range and multiple calibrated wavelengths for various WDM and passive optical networks. In addition to its easy-to-use operations, the module also supports automatic attenuation sequencing with preset profiles.
