The FLASH150 ADX Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) add/drop multiplexer from Fujitsu Network Communications Inc. combines traditional OC-3 and OC-12 operation with advanced bandwidth-grooming and data-transport capabilities, enabling service providers to provide multiple services over a single, converged fiber-optic network.

The FLASH150 ADX Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) add/drop multiplexer from Fujitsu Network Communications Inc. combines traditional OC-3 and OC-12 operation with advanced bandwidth-grooming and data-transport capabilities, enabling service providers to provide multiple services over a single, converged fiber-optic network.

According to the company, the system lowers network costs with enhanced SONET transport features, the addition of integrated data interfaces, and a hybrid time-division multiplexing and Asynchronous Transfer Mode architecture. The FLASH150 product family includes the full-sized FLASH150 ADX and the smaller ADXi shelf, which is designed for lower-capacity, lower-cost customer premise applications. Both versions will be available in the second quarter of 2000.
