Teleglobe Colombia SA and Teleglobe de Panama SA, subsidiaries of Teleglobe International Corp. (McLean, VA), received licenses to provide Internet access and other services in their respective countries. Teleglobe plans to deploy a point of presence in both Bogota and Panama City on its GlobeInternet fiber-optic backbone network. In Panama, Teleglobe de Panama was granted concessions to provide Internet access to carriers, Internet service providers (ISPs), and business customers, and to supply voice, data, and video to closed user groups not interconnected with the public telephone network. In Colombia, Teleglobe Colombia`s license permits it to provide all kinds of value-added services to closed user groups through a facilities-based network, as well as providing Internet services to carriers, ISPs and corporations.
