Hisense Broadband unveils 100G, 200G per lane optical platforms

April 9, 2024
The new platforms target emerging cloud, AI/ML and network applications.

Hisense Broadband recently showcased its new series of 100G and 200G per lane optical solutions during the OFC 2024 show, positioning itself to pursue next-gen cloud, AI/ML and network applications.

To address its global customer needs, the vendor significantly increased module production capabilities in all its factories, particularly in Thailand and New Jersey facilities.

“As the demand for optical module solutions increases rapidly for AI/ML applications, from the market in general and from our customers in particular, Hisense has invested heavily to introduce a suite of new 400G and 800G single-mode and multi-mode products into the market, using VCSEL, EML and Silicon Photonics optics based on 100G and 200G per Lane PAM4 technologies,” said Dr. Jin Hong, EVP and President of Data Center Business for Hisense Broadband.

During the OFC 2024 show, Hisense Broadband demonstrated its 800G OSFP DR4 / FR4, based on 200G per lane optics with 8:4 Gearbox DSP supporting 8x100G electrical interfaces.

The company’s LPO capabilities were also on display during OFC. Hisense Broadband held live demonstrations of three of its series of LPO modules on the switch, including:

·       Silicon Photonics based 800G OSFP DR8 and 400G QSFP112 DR4

·       EML based 800G OSFP 2xFR4

·       VCSEL based 800G OSFP SR8 and 400G QSFP112 SR4

The vendor also held a live demo of the 800G OSFP SR8 solution with 100m MMF.

Another critical component of Hisense Broadband’s strategy is partnerships and interoperability. The vendor participated in OIF CEI 112G and 400G ZR interoperability demonstrations with various partners.

For its 800G 2xFR4 and SR8 LPO demo, our notable highlight was establishing a 100m connection of SR8 LPO between Hisense and OIF Booths. It also conducted a QSFP-DD 400G ZR+ demo with 100km fiber networks.

Hisense also participated in the joint live demonstrations with its partners Spirent and Macom. At Spirent’s booth, Hisense Broadband showcased its OSFP 800G DR8 LPO and its OSFP 800G SR8 LPO with Macom.
