The broadband and optical industry witnessed shifts in management ranks, with Comporium, Conexon, Spectra7 and TDS enhancing their top management teams.

Comporium promotes Skroban to lead marketing for its media and video strategy
Comporium has promoted Karl Skroban as Vice President of Marketing, Media Services, and Video Strategy. In this role, Skroban is responsible for developing and implementing Comporium’s overall marketing strategy. The company’s Media Services group, which provides the company’s digital marketing services for business customers, and DashHound, the agency-focused service, will now report to Skroban as well. Skroban will continue to oversee video strategy and will be directly responsible for orchestrating media content. Skroban graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism. Since joining Comporium in 1997, he has held increasing responsibility for marketing and video strategy during his time with the company. Skroban also works with the National Content & Technology Cooperative (NCTC). Skroban was elected as the board chairman earlier this year.

Conexon names Cable One veteran Walburn as COO
Conexon has tapped telecom and cable industry veteran John Walburn as Chief Operating Officer. The newly added position speaks to Conexon's expanding business need for a dedicated senior executive to create company-wide operational efficiencies while more closely integrating its numerous service divisions. As COO, Walburn will oversee Conexon's multifaceted network operations, development, construction, regulatory, and funding divisions in partnership with existing SVP leadership. Walburn joins Conexon from Cable One and has a decades-long executive leadership background in operational performance, strategic planning, and cross-functional team leadership. Before his five-year tenure at Cable One, Walburn held leadership roles at Missouri-based Fidelity Communications and Illinois-based Consolidated Communications.

Spectra7 taps Javaid as CEO
Spectra7 Microsystems has appointed Omar Javaid as its new CEO and a board member. With more than 25 years of experience accelerating sales growth and profitability, Javaid brings to Spectra7 a demonstrated track record in building world-class teams, global product launches, executive leadership, and achieving operational excellence. Most recently, Javaid was Chief Product Officer at Avaya, where he led product development for Avaya's worldwide portfolio, partnerships, and alliances. Before this, he was a SVP and GM of Software at Qualcomm, leading the worldwide software portfolio. He has also held senior positions at Vonage, Hewlett-Packard, Google and Motorola. He was also the CEO and co-founder of Mobilocity, which was sold to Qualcomm. Javaid has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan and has completed executive programs at Harvard Business School and Stanford University.

TDS adds Rutledge to its board
Telephone and Data Systems Directors has elected Napoleon B. Rutledge Jr. to the Board. Rutledge will also serve on the TDS Audit Committee. He is currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of McKesson Corporation, a global healthcare company. Before serving in his current role, Rutledge held several positions as a financial executive leader, with increasing responsibilities at Genuine Parts Company, a global service organization in the automotive and industrial parts industry. Mr. Rutledge began his career as a Certified Public Accountant at Ernst & Young LLP. Rutledge graduated from Morehouse College with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
