Comcast lights up broadband for underserved in Hopewell and Maurice River Townships, Cumberland County, NJ
Comcast has completed the expansion of its network throughout the Hopewell and Maurice River townships, bringing its broadband service to nearly 350 previously unconnected rural homes and businesses in those towns in Cumberland County. The project was made possible through public-private partnerships between Comcast and the township committees, which sought to connect all residents to broadband.

DigitalC equips 18K Cleveland residents with broadband
DigitalC ended the year 2025 on a strong note, connecting more than 7,500 households, including 4,700 in 2025 alone, bringing high-speed home internet to over 18,000 residents. In June 2025, DigitalC completed the full buildout of Cleveland's next-generation network in under 18 months, among the fastest community-based broadband deployments in the country. This year also marked the first expansion of The Cleveland Model beyond Ohio. In a partnership led by Rocket Community Fund, the City of Detroit, Detroit Housing Commission, and Merit Network, DigitalC completed a Detroit pilot project that connected 450 families across three public housing communities and demonstrated the model's scalability. The work has been supported by a broad coalition of partners, including The Mandel Foundation, The Myers Foundation, the State of Ohio, the City of Cleveland, the Cleveland City Council, The Gund Foundation, Rocket Community Fund, Microsoft, and Google.

Intrepid Fiber Networks establishes foothold in California
Intrepid Fiber Networks, a wholesale open-access fiber infrastructure provider, has launched its network in California. The service provider will make an initial investment in the cities of Vista and San Marcos in San Diego County, with further expansion across the state. The company will first deploy its network across San Marcos and Vista, bringing symmetrical multi-gigabit broadband options to residents, businesses, and community institutions throughout the region. Already underway with engineering, permitting and construction, Intrepid expects service to become available early in 2026.

Optimum to deploy FTTH to Woodbridge, Clark, and Linden, New Jersey
Optimum is rolling out its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in parts of central New Jersey, announcing that Woodbridge, Clark, and Linden will be among the first communities to receive access to its fiber internet, mobile, TV, and phone services. The company said thousands of residents and businesses in those towns can sign up “for the very first time,” and that nearby Winfield, Rahway, and Roselle will follow soon. Optimum also plans to deploy fiber in Carteret and Perth Amboy, with service expected to be available by spring 2026. The expansion is part of a roughly $40 million investment in New Jersey, Optimum said.

Shentel equips 7K unserved Shenandoah County, VA locations with fiber broadband
Shentel has completed its Virginia Telecommunications Initiative (VATI) project to expand gigabit broadband internet service to more than 7,000 previously unserved homes in Shenandoah County, Virginia. The $50 million construction project was partly funded by the VATI program, administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Additional funding was provided through Shentel’s own capital investment and a contribution from Shenandoah County.
