Burlington Telecom, Comcast, Fybe, GoNetspeed, Ripple Fiber and Spectrum are using various funding sources to expand broadband access to more communities.

Burlington Telecom serves up multi-gig fiber speeds
Burlington Telecom (BT) has launched new multi-gigabit Fiber internet tiers, expanding access to symmetrical speeds up to 5 Gbps. With the introduction of 5 Gbps speeds, Flight Fiber positions BT as offering the fastest fiber-to-the-home internet service currently available to residential customers in Chittenden County. All new Flight Fiber customers will receive complimentary Smart Wi-Fi with one mesh extender to help ensure consistent coverage throughout the home. Customers on legacy internet tiers will be notified by mail and email once their upgrades are finalized, at no additional cost.

Comcast makes Centreville, MD, its next Maryland broadband build target
Comcast is connecting more than 2,300 new homes and businesses in Centreville, MD, to broadband service, giving residents a new choice. The first residents in Centreville will be connected to Xfinity services early this year. This expansion in Centreville deepens Comcast’s investment in Queen Anne’s County, MD – where the company is undergoing a broader network expansion, ultimately connecting more than 16,000 residents and businesses across the county, including communities in Grasonville, Kent Island, Kent Narrows, and Queenstown. Comcast’s Centreville build is the cable MSO’s latest investment in Maryland, which also includes network expansion projects in Hagerstown, MD, and St. Mary’s County, MD.

Fybe begins building the Martin County, NC fiber network build
Fybe, a fiber internet provider serving rural North Carolina, has launched a new fiber-to-the-home buildout in Martin County. The multi-phase project will bring high-speed internet access to more than 2,100 homes and businesses, marking a significant investment in the county’s digital infrastructure.

GoNetspeed readies construction in Rhode Island
GoNetspeed has begun construction on a network delivering fiber internet to more than 8,200 homes and businesses in Rhode Island—the service provider’s tenth state. With this investment, GoNetspeed is unlocking access to cutting-edge fiber technology, moving Newport residents and businesses one step closer to internet speeds of up to 2 Gbps. The first customers are expected to come online in early 2026. With a $3.9 million investment in Newport alongside a $9 million award from the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation’s Capital Projects Fund (CPF), GoNetspeed is bringing fiber internet directly to customers’ doors.

Ripple Fiber sets sights on Corona, California
Ripple Fiber has launched a plan to deliver fiber internet access to more than 33,000 homes in Riverside County, California, starting in Corona. With an initial investment of around $43 million, Ripple Fiber expects to begin construction within the first quarter of 2026. Ripple Fiber announced its entry into the state in December 2025, investing over $60 million to deliver fiber internet to more than 50,000 homes in Kern County. Construction in Bakersfield is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with construction in Corona to follow. Additional cities in nearby counties will be announced soon as the provider expands its Southern California network.

Spectrum deepens rural reach in Pamlico County and Bladen County, North Carolina
Spectrum has launched its suite of broadband and video services to more than 1,200 homes and small businesses in Pamlico County and 1,300 in Bladen County, North Carolina. Spectrum’s multi-year rural construction initiative is driven by more than $7 billion in private investment. It will ultimately add 100,000 miles of fiber network infrastructure and deliver symmetrical, multi-gigabit-speed internet access to more than 1.7 million new locations nationwide.
