altafiber establishes public-private broadband partnership with the City of Westerville, Ohio
The City of Westerville, Ohio and altafiber entered a new public-private partnership that will bring the service provider’s fiber network to the community. Construction is slated to begin this summer, providing Westerville residents with access to fiber internet for their homes within the next three years. One of the most innovative aspects of this agreement is its funding structure. As a true public-private partnership, zero capital dollars are being used to finance the infrastructure, bringing a vital modern resource to the community without a high price tag. Westerville is an established technology leader in Central Ohio, operating its own Electric Department as well as WeConnect, the City’s community-owned data center. Through a long-term presence at the WeConnect data center, altafiber will service local customers while collaborating with the City to deploy underground fiber in key areas to mitigate high excavation costs. This unique partnership drives new revenue streams for WeConnect and unlocks direct access to an expanded customer base.

Bluepeak connects first fiber Internet customer in East Grand Forks, MN
Bluepeak has connected its first residential customer in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, marking an exciting milestone as the company expands its fiber network to serve more homes and businesses throughout the community. More neighborhoods in East Grand Forks will come online soon as construction continues.

Cambium Networks Wi-Fi delivers connectivity aboard the International Space Station
Cambium Networks’ enterprise Wi-Fi access points are providing in-cabin wireless connectivity aboard the International Space Station (ISS), supporting crew operations, science payloads, and the everyday connectivity that helps keep astronauts in contact with their families on Earth. The access points were carried to the ISS aboard a SpaceX Commercial Resupply Services mission for NASA (CRS-30) and installed in the station's Node 1 (Unity) and Node 2 (Harmony) modules. The Cambium solution provides the wireless backbone for nearly every connected activity inside the station, replacing earlier-generation 802.11n access points with improved performance and capacity and managed using cnMaestro X, Cambium's centralized network management system. The network supports up to 12 crew members and dozens of operational, Internet of Things (IoT), and personal devices. Astronauts utilize the technology throughout the day, including the tablets they use as they float through the modules, as well as phones, laptops, robots and other devices.

GoNetspeed connects Derby, Connecticut to its fiber network
GoNetspeed has connected Derby, Connecticut to its fiber network, joining Shelton. With Derby and Shelton now online, the two communities join more than 40 others across Connecticut already served by the company, including Ansonia, Bridgeport, Danbury, East Haven, North Hamden, and Stratford, and soon Guilford and Madison through a recently announced $4 million expansion.

IdeaTek takes on Tucson, Arizona's fiber broadband market
IdeaTek is officially entering the Tucson market following the Tucson City Council’s June 23 approval of a right-of-way license. It is the first new licensee to receive a right-of-way license under the City of Tucson’s Fiber-to-the-Premise initiative. The initiative is designed to attract private investment and achieve citywide fiber coverage by 2029. IdeaTek plans to invest $300 million to bring a fiber network delivering speeds up to 8 Gbps to thousands of Tucson homes and businesses. Construction will begin in Tucson in August and will expand steadily across the city, with the first homes connected this fall. IdeaTek is committed to digital inclusion, building out all areas of Tucson at an equal pace rather than prioritizing select neighborhoods – ensuring underserved areas gain access to fiber internet at the same rate as the rest of the city.

Spectrum brings broadband to 2,000 locations in Osceola County, Florida
Spectrum is marking a major milestone in Osceola County, Florida, as its network expansion nears completion. Spectrum Internet, with speeds up to 1 Gig, Mobile, TV and Voice services are now available to more than 2,000 homes and small businesses. The expansion in Osceola County is part of Spectrum’s multi-year rural construction initiative. Driven by more than $7 billion in private investment, Spectrum will add more than 100,000 miles of fiber-optic network infrastructure and deliver symmetrical, multi-gigabit-speed Internet access to more than 1.7 million new locations across the country.

TDS kicks off southeast Wisconsin fiber network expansion
TDS Telecommunications marked the start of its recently announced Lake Geneva fiber project with a ceremonial groundbreaking at Flat Iron Park.The groundbreaking event included officials from the company, city and Visit Lake Geneva. TDS also presented a donation to the Lake Geneva Food Pantry in recognition of the construction milestone. Communities in TDS’ southeast Wisconsin fiber expansion plans include Lake Geneva, Burlington, Camp Lake, Como, Delavan, Genoa City, Pell Lake, Walworth, and Williams Bay. When construction is completed, approximately 24,000 homes and businesses will have access to the TDS network.

Xfinity delivers broadband to Hancock and Glascock Counties, Georgia
Comcast’s Xfinity has equipped 3,300 new homes and businesses in Hancock and Glascock counties, including the communities of Sparta and Gibson, with multi-gigabit, symmetrical Internet. Hancock and Glascock counties join more than 65 million homes and businesses nationwide with access to a network that fuels innovation, productivity, and everyday connection.
