GoNetspeed continues New Jersey expansion to Old Bridge
GoNetspeed is continuing its investment in New Jersey by expanding its fiber Internet network to Old Bridge. Through a privately funded $3.5 million investment, GoNetspeed will deliver symmetrical Internet speeds of up to 6 Gbps to more than 2,500 homes and businesses. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027, with the first homes and businesses connected by summer. As GoNetspeed moves to connect New Jerseyans through a combined initial investment of $110 million, Old Bridge joins a growing list of communities set to benefit from the company’s fiber internet network.
Comcast completes Waterbury, Connecticut network expansion
Comcast has completed its network expansion in Waterbury, bringing Comcast Business’ high-speed, symmetrical Internet, cybersecurity solutions, and Comcast Business Mobile to businesses across the Greater Waterbury downtown area. With this expansion, hundreds of businesses in Waterbury now have access to Comcast Business’ suite of advanced connectivity solutions, including Internet speeds up to 100 Gbps over Ethernet, Advanced Voice, Mobile, and a range of cloud services.
Race Communications kicks off latest fiber broadband investment in City of Lodi
Race Communications is continuing its statewide expansion across California, with its next stop being the City of Lodi. With construction underway, Race is expecting to connect 17,000 homes and businesses across the city to future-proof fiber internet. Unlike older cable networks, Race’s 10-gigabit network delivers symmetrical speeds.
Across California, Race has invested more than $650 million and has an additional investment of more than $200 million underway for 2026 to build out the company’s all-fiber network and accelerate local connectivity and economic growth.
Spectrum's latest rural expansion connects more Lincoln County, Wisconsin locations
Spectrum has begun expanding its fiber broadband network to bring Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV, and Voice services to more than 3,500 homes and businesses in previously unserved or underserved areas of Lincoln County, Wisconsin, including the townships of Merrill, Pine River, Schley, Scott, Somo, and Tomahawk. The cable MSO’s multi-year rural construction initiative is driven by more than $7 billion in private investment from Spectrum. It will ultimately add 100,000 miles of fiber network infrastructure and deliver symmetrical and multi-gigabit speeds to more than 1.7 million new locations across the country.
TOHKnet conducts Japan’s first 50G PON trial on a live network
TOHKnet has completed Japan’s first live network trial demonstrating the coexistence of 50G PON, XGS-PON and EPON on a single fiber. Conducted in Sendai using Adtran’s SDX 6400 Series OLT, the demo showed how the platform enables three generations of PON technology to operate together in a live service environment. The results highlight a realistic path for operators to introduce 50G PON capacity while maintaining continuity for existing services, maximizing the value of deployed fiber assets and reducing the complexity and disruption typically associated with network upgrades. Adtran’s platform integrates 50G PON, XGS-PON and EPON capabilities on a single fiber, enabling TOHKnet to assess how 50G PON can be introduced alongside deployed access technologies without requiring major changes to the optical distribution network.
