Molex’s VersaBeam Expanded Beam Optical connectors and cables use lensed technology to deliver scalable fiber connectivity to data centers. Expanded-beam connector options integrate 12, 16, or 144 fibers into a single connector, simplifying cable routing, accelerating data center deployments, and lowering total cost of ownership. By using optical connectors that are easy to install and designed to minimize inspection requirements, data centers can reduce system downtime, improve reliability, and cut costs by reducing the need for highly skilled maintenance staff. High-capacity VersaBeam EBO solutions fit more fibers into a smaller form factor, maximizing rack density while reducing space requirements. The EBO design uses a total internal reflection (TIR) collimation lens to extend the optical path, reducing lateral offset effects and improving insertion loss (IL) and return loss (RL) performance.

Judge’s comment: “EBO could be very useful to enhance reliability and reduce maintenance for large optics volume deployment.”
