Coherent: 140 Gbaud IC-TROSA Extended C-Band for 800G DCO transceivers
Coherent's 140 Gbaud IC-TROSA is now available with a wavelength-tunable range extended to 6 THz, which enables an 20% increase in bandwidth capacity over a single fiber from 33 Tbps to 40 Tbps. The 140 Gbaud IC-TROSA is a complete coherent optical engine that complies with the OIF IC-TROSA implementation agreement (Type-2), so it contains all the key building blocks: wavelength-tunable laser, optical amplifiers, modulators, drivers, coherent mixer, photodiode array, and transimpedance amplifiers. A microcontroller, along with digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters, is embedded in the IC-TROSA, which provides a simple digital communication interface for all control and monitoring. The high level of integration and lower power dissipation of this 140 Gbaud IC-TROSA enable 800G ZR and OpenZR+ pluggable Digital Coherent Optical transceivers in QSFP-DD and OSFP small form factors, so DWDM optics can plug directly into routers and switches for IP-over-DWDM architectures.
Judge’s comment: “Coherent's expansion of the IC TROSA wavelength range to cover the 6THz super-C band will expand the applications of 800ZR/ZR+ pluggable DCOs for customers seeking the maximum fiber capacity.”
