Telco Systems has introduced CloudMetro 10, a Gigabit Ethernet virtualization platform. Designed to aid the transition to software-defined networking and network functions virtualization (SDN/NFV), CloudMetro 10 supports hardware acceleration and pre-integrated virtual network function (VNF) applications that enable carrier-grade performance with multi-service chaining, according to the company.

Part of Telco Systems' Open Metro Edge (OME) portfolio, CloudMetro virtual customer premises equipment (vCPE) implementations range from 1 to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The OME also includes the EdgeGenie Orchestrator for management and orchestration and the TelcoApps library of pre-configured VNF packages. In fact, Telco Systems says it has expanded this library to help operators deliver NFV-enabled IT management and security services to their enterprise customers. The VNF applications cover security, routing, SD-WAN, and WAN-optimization services from such vendors as Check Point, Audio Codes, Palo Alto, and Netrounds. The company says it also has successfully completed tests of VNF applications with Cisco, Brocade, Juniper, Silver Peak, Riverbed, and Fortinet.

The company says it also has completed a series of proof-of-concept trials with Tier 1 service providers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
