Accedian has unveiled FlowBROKER, a distributed packet broker designed to enable high-definition visibility throughout the network. The company expects the virtualized platform to aid in user experience monitoring, security, policy enforcement, and compliance applications.

FlowBROKER provides access to all flows, applications, layers, and locations over multi-vendor networks, Accedian asserts. This capability provides analyzers with significantly more data than possible before, thus improving performance insight and network management.

The platform improves the performance of deep packet inspection (DPI), security, policy enforcement, and application analyzers by separating traffic access from the point of analysis, without compromising data integrity, granularity, or timing precision, according to the company. FlowBROKER also will eliminate blind spots in the big data analytics systems used for real-time network optimization and subscriber insight.

FlowBROKER is integrated into the SkyLIGHT Performance Platform. The virtualized SkyLIGHT VCX Controller orchestrates the necessary process steps, including defining capture filters and packet-processing rules, maintaining time synchronization between capture points, and ensuring packets captured are losslessly streamed, stored, and brokered to physical or virtual appliances for analysis. Traffic is captured by NFV-based, programmable modules, including Accedian's Nano smart SFP.
