Fusion splicer

The fase II fusion splicer splices erbium-doped fiber to standard singlemode fiber, producing average splice losses of 0.13 dB. This fixed alignment unit produces low-loss splices with both singlemode and multimode fiber. The 178 ¥ 127 ¥ 125-mm device is housed in an aluminum case to withstand harsh environments. A 75¥ magnification microscope provides a clear view of fibers and protects the user from ultra- violet and infrared light. The splicer incorporates power-efficient electronics and an auto-power-down feature to provide more than 100 splices from its internal sealed lead-acid battery. The unit can be supplied as part of the fasekit, which includes a heat-shrink oven. Operating temperature is -10 to +40C.
