Fiber-optic modem

The osd136 synchronous/asynchronous RS-232 fiber-optic modem provides full-duplex RS-232 communications over distances to 5 km of multimode fiber. The modem handles clock, data signals, and two handshake lines, all operating at baud rates up to 20 kbits/sec. The chip can be used as a 4-channel multiplexer. The modem can be set up for asynchronous communications for data rates between DC and 20 kbits/sec. In synchronous mode, it operates with an external clock.
