Fiber-optic modem

The osd155 fiber-optic modem supports half-duplex operation between DC and 40 kbits/sec over a single optical fiber. A 150-kbit/sec version is optional. A pair of these short-haul RS-485 modems and a simplex fiber-optic cable can be used to replace twisted-pair extension cables with the added features of emi/rfi protection, data security, and reduced data-error rates. With standard multimode fiber-optic cable, the modems provide operation to 2 km. A long-haul version (osd155L) that provides operation over distances to 10 km on a singlemode fiber is also available.
