Transmode Systems AB supplies CWDM solution to Stockholm Underground

December 18, 2002--Transmode Systems AB, Swedish supplier of transmission equipment for fiber-optic networks, has delivered CWDM systems to SL Infrateknik, the network owner of Stockholm Underground.

Transmode Systems AB, Swedish supplier of transmission equipment for fiber-optic networks, has delivered CWDM systems to SL Infrateknik, the network owner of Stockholm Underground.

SL Infrateknik is building a network that will connect all 115 underground stations and key centers in the Stockholm public transport network. It will be used for data communication between the stations but will also transport traffic from video surveillance and the speaker system as well as Internet-Protocol (IP) telephony traffic.

Transmode's products are based on Coarse WDM, a technology for sending multiple channels over a single fiber. The technology is a further development from the more traditional DWDM technology and enables more flexible, robust, and cost effective networks, says the company.

"The network we are investing in will be used to improve the information to our passengers even further and to increase security on our platforms. To be able to offer correct information and high security is very important for us," asserts says Lars-Gunnar Sjocrona, manager of the IT-department at SL Infrateknik.
