Application-specific dwdm

This application-specific, dense wavelength-division multiplexer uses an all-fiber fcf (fused cascaded fiber) design in a new bidirectional device to separate or combine any two wavelengths from 960 to 1620 nm. Wavelength separation can be specified from 2.0 to 40 nm. The dwdm function is integrated into the fiber itself for a variety of applications, including wdm networks, cable TV, optical-fiber amplifiers, high-speed communications, metropolitan and long-haul communications, and certain types of fiber-optic systems that are not geared for telecommunications. The devices offer high return loss, high wavelength isolation, low insertion loss, and favorable signal-to-noise ratio.
