Philips Broadband Networks, Atlanta, GA, is teaming up with Artel Video Systems Inc., Marlboro, MA, to develop fiber-optic digital transmission systems for broadband network operators. According to Philips Broadband Networks, the alliance will speed the development of new digital technology, enabling hybrid fiber/ coaxial-cable equipment operators to work more efficiently and increase revenue. New equipment includes uncompressed digital systems accommodating video-, audio-, and data-signal transmission for cable headend interconnects, including cable-TV supertrunking, regional cable-TV networks, and distance-learning.
