Media converter

The singlemode-to-multimode media converter for 1.5-Gbit/sec networks allows network administrators to integrate Gigabit Ethernet technology on a port-to-port basis. Administrators can extend Gigabit Ethernet over singlemode fiber up to 3000 m. Multimode fiber-optic components typically offer 300- (1000Base-DX) or 550-m (1000Base-LX) distances over multimode fiber.
