ciena Corp. (Linthicum, MD) announced the selection of its DWDM systems for deployment by two Japanese companies in their fiber-optic networks. DDI Corp. (Tokyo) began receiving shipments for ciena`s 16-channel MultiWave Sentry dense wavelength-division multiplexing system for deployment in its nationwide network, expected to begin service in early 1999. ciena will also provide its MultiWave Sentry 4000 DWDM system, capable of 40 channels, to Japan Telecom (Tokyo) for deployment in its national fiber-optic network.
