The Flashwave Metro is a dense wavelength-division multiplexing system designed for regional and local service provider applications. The system supports 16 channels of OC-48 (2.5 Gbits/ sec) transmission, for a total system capacity of 40 Gbits/sec. The system transmits this capacity for metropolitan applications by using 16 integrated narrowband optical transmitters or by using transponders.
