ciena Corp. (Linthicum, MD) also received a $13 million contract from Digital Teleport Inc. (St. Louis, MO) for provision of its 40-channel MultiWave 4000 dwdm system. The regional communications carrier previously had installed ciena`s MultiWave 1600 as part of the first phase of a ring network in Missouri.

Global Crossing Ltd. (Beverly Hills, CA) has two more customers for its Atlantic Crossing 1 (AC-1) network, which links the United States with Europe. psinet Inc. (Herndon, VA) signed a 25-year indefeasible right of use agreement for an stm-1 (155-Mbit/sec) loop, which will be connected with the carrier`s OC-48 (2.5-Gbit/sec) U.S. fiber network at a point of presence in New York City. In Europe, the loop will connect with PSINet facilities in London and Amsterdam. The second customer is Teleglobe (Montreal), which will use Global Crossing`s AC-1 capacity to provide restoration for the company`s cantat-3 and canus-1 undersea cable systems.
