3 March 2003 -- Marconi has completed interoperability testing of its DWDM technology with IBM's TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server - codenamed 'Shark'.
The testing is part of IBM's Total Storage Proven interoperability programme. This accreditation can help broaden-the appeal of Marconi's technology for customers who will be able to deploy the PMM Metro DWDM product with IBM's Enterprise Storage Server.
Marconi's PMM product will help enable customers to realise the benefits of Storage Area Networks (SANs) over extended distances. These benefits can include higher storage utilisation, reduced operational expenditure and data consolidation.
In addition to enjoying carrier-class SAN extension services using the Marconi PMM platform, customers can rely on the PMM as an enabler for delivering more profitable services.
Taking part in IBM's TotalStorage Proven programme builds on already extensive interoperability efforts on the part of Marconi to deliver products and solutions that work together with third party products. It is part of the company's overall determination to broaden the applications of its leading technologies.
