March 17, 2003--Movaz Networks, a provider of optical networking solutions, announced a coarse WDM (CWDM) platform. The new RAYexpress CWDM is a cost attractive, optical edge device for high bandwidth data, storage and TDM services. It joins the company's flagship WDM product, Rayexpress DWDM.
The CWDM platform offers a solution for lower demand enterprise customers, consolidation of multi-tenant traffic ,and storage area networks. The platform can be integrated with Movaz's RAYexpress optical add/drop multiplexer and RAYstar transport and switching platform.
RAYexpress CWDM is available with native, transparent and aggregated interfaces including OC-3/12/48/192, STM-1/4/16/64, Gigabit Ethernet, and IBM-tested ESCON. The commonality of the interface cards between the DWDM and the CWDM RAYexpress, can result in significant savings in sparing and inventory costs for carriers.
In addition, the CWDM system supports small-form-factor pluggable optics on its tributaries, thus enabling flexible plug-and-play for adaptability to specific customer interfacing requirements. While it is cost optimized for short-haul applications, the CWDM RAYexpress can reach 120 km of transmission distance without any amplification, which allows the system to support transport of optical services across the metro environment. A fully integrated and GMPLS empowered network management platform provisions optical services from the customer premise to the metro core across CWDM and DWDM systems.
Movaz's entire portfolio, including the RAYexpress CWDM and DWDM, will be showcased at the Optical Fiber Conference (OFC) in Atlanta from March 25-27.
