Asanté highlights Gigabit Ethernet at N+I

Sept. 7, 2001--Asanté Technologies, Inc. will showcase Gigabit Ethernet technologies as a partner in National Semiconductor's booth #4322 at Networld+Interop Atlanta, September 11-13.

Asanté Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASNT.OB) will showcase Gigabit Ethernet technologies as a partner in National Semiconductor's booth #4322 at Networld+Interop Atlanta, September 11-13. A multimedia demo will run in the booth, showing the speed and throughput of the FriendlyNET GigaNIX 1000TA (for Mac, Linux, and Windows) and FriendlyNET GigaNIX 1000TPC (for Linux and Windows) cards.

Asanté will also introduce its new FriendlyNET GigaNIX 1032TPC, a Gigabit Ethernet adapter designed for newer desktops and mid-range workstations. The GigaNIX adapter:

* Includes performance-tuned drivers for both Windows-based workstations and servers

* Simplifies network monitoring with Asanté's exclusive LAN Inspector utility

* Improves signal quality and data integrity with AsantéQ Link Quality Monitor

* Is compatible with all 10/100/1000BaseT hubs, switches, and routers (including industry standard Broadcom BCM5400)

The company also lowered its price for Asanté's FriendlyNET GX4-800GBIC switch. This 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch features seven 10/100/1000BaseT ports plus one 1000BaseX modular GBIC port. With an estimated street price below $175 per switch port, this workgroup switch is the ideal complement to the new GigaNIX adapter.

Asanté's FriendlyNET GigaNIX 1032TPC 32-bit PC Bus, 10/100/1000 PCI adapter; PC only, lists for $79. FriendlyNET GX4-800GBIC 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch lists for $1399.
