NEC America Public Networks Group, an affiliate of NEC Corporation and a developer of advanced communication products, software and services for public networks, is bringing rich-wire-speed quality of service to Internet Protocol networks through its Converged Service Node technology.

NEC Corporation announced the launch of new products and solutions to ensure the highest-quality performance of IP Networks. NEC is offering the CX5220 and CX5210, new wire-speed QoS IP switch routers; the CX6800-QS, a new type of QoS Server to Manage and control end-to-end QoS and bandwidth over an IP Network, CX-4210 and CX4220 edge routers and Network Management system. NEC demonstrated the products last week at SuperComm in Atlanta.

The new products are currently available to telecommunication carriers, mobile communication carriers, ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and ASPs (Application Services Providers) worldwide.

Multiple QoSs -- from current best-effort IP network to high-quality, flexible, real-time wire-speed QoS -- can be realized over an entire network without degradation of existing telecommunications services. In addition, large quantities of IP network traffic to/from fixed and mobile networks can be handled with the same QoS level as the traditional legacy circuits/mobile networks.

NEC's new CX series lineup includes a full range of IP networking solutions, from middle- to large-scale IP switching routers, Internet access nodes, media gateways and IP infrastructure servers, including QoS servers, call agents, gatekeepers, policy servers, radius servers, signaling gateways and network management servers.

Major features include NEC Wire-Speed QoS Switch Routers and CX5220/CX5210 (Core/Edge). The CX5220 (320Gbps) and CX5210 (80Gbps) are wire-speed IP switching routers that meet the high performance standards of our NEC infrastructure solutions for enhanced reliability and multi-service IP network integration. Incorporating advanced device technologies, they offer high-speed packet processing and a rich QoS feature set that enhances service-handling capability. As a result, value-added network solutions can be tailored to meet specific SLA (Service Level Agreement) needs, thereby increasing IP network business profitability. The CX5200 Series is also exceptionally robust, and marks a new high in carrier-class switching router reliability for uninterrupted service delivery.

The CX4220 (60Gbps) and CX4210 (40Gbps) are wire-speed IP switch edge routers that meet the high performance standards of our NEC infrastructure solutions for enhanced reliability and multi-service IP network integration. Incorporating the world's most advanced device technologies for high-speed IP packet processing; they boast a rich wire-speed QoS feature set and wide- ranging IP service and subscriber management capabilities.

The CX6800-QS is a QoS server that meets the high performance standards of our NEC infrastructure solutions for enhanced reliability and multi-service network integration. With CX6800-QS, LSP and Diffserv policy settings can be used to achieve centralized route selection and assignment control "end-to-end."

The CX6600-NM Network Management System meets performance standards of our NEC infrastructure solutions for enhanced reliability and multi-service IP network integration. Featuring a fully integrated suite of software tools for CX Series monitoring control and provisioning, it helps to streamline network administration tasks.
