May 24, 2001--Alliance Fiber Optic Products, Inc., a supplier of fiber optic components and integrated modules for the optical network equipment market, announced the release of an all-passive Filter-Leaver for long-haul, regional and metro DWDM system applications.

Alliance Fiber Optic Products, Inc. (Nasdaq:AFOP), a supplier of fiber optic components and integrated modules for the optical network equipment market, announced the release of an all-passive Filter-Leaver for long-haul, regional and metro DWDM system applications. The Filter-Leaver is made possible by AFOP's patent pending v-collimator thin-film filter technology.

This completely passive filter solution allows for modular expansion of the optical network to over 160 channels. AFOP's Filter-Leaver is used to divide the C-Band or L-Band into ten sub-bands without interrupting a single channel. Each sub-band can contain eight 50 GHz channels, four 100 GHz channels, two 200 GHz channels or any combination, in a complementary modular format. The Filter-Leaver offers extensive freedom for scaling the DWDM network without sacrificing a single channel.

AFOP's Filter-Leaver features include high isolation, high wavelength accuracy and stability, low insertion loss, high directivity, an epoxy-free optical path, and low polarization dependent loss. AFOP's Filter-Leaver is available packaged in a LGX module or a board mount cassette with fiber pigtails.

AFOP also offers custom wavelengths, channel configurations and packaging of its Filter-Leaver upon request.
