XKL expands DarkStar DWDM line for enterprise networks

XKL, LLC has added the DXM10-4 and DXM10-2 platforms to its DarkStar line of DWDM optical transport systems. As with other elements of the DarkStar family, the two new systems are designed for use by enterprise network managers to light dark fiber networks.

The XKL DXM10-4 and DXM10-2 systems are designed for use by smaller enterprises and others who need only four or two (respectively) ports of connectivity. The systems are intended to lower the barrier of entry for enterprises who previously may have considered optical networking via dark fiber beyond their reach, XKL asserts.

"Dark fiber is only as important as a company's ability to use it. Our DXM10-4 and DXM10-2 provide a plug-and-play solution for lighting dark fiber, without the capital expenditure commonly associated with the cost of large-bandwidth project commitments," states Len Bosack, CEO of XKL. "We have designed a solution that fits the needs of smaller projects with enterprises, carriers, ISPs, and more. These lower port count systems offer flexible network extension opportunities for using dark fiber assets, that up until now have not been available in a system-engineered component."
