SOLiD Technologies provides fiber access for InnerCity FiberNet, LLC Gigabit Ethernet services

Aug. 9, 2011
InnerCity FiberNet, LLC (ICFN), a Dallas-based Competitive Access Provider (CAP), says it has selected the MediaC-1600 fiber access network product from SOLiD Technologies. The MediaC-1600 will maximize its fiber network to deploy Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) services, light up customer sites faster, and support multiple networks, asserts InnerCity FiberNet.

InnerCity FiberNet, LLC (ICFN), a Dallas-based Competitive Access Provider (CAP), says it has selected the MediaC-1600 fiber access network product from SOLiD Technologies. The MediaC-1600 will enable ICFN to deploy Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) services on its fiber network, light up customer sites faster, and support multiple networks, asserts SOLiD.

The SOLiD Technologies MediaC-1600 provides ICFN with 16 independent channels of traffic over a single strand of fiber. The SOLiD Technologies fiber access product also offers ICFN features such as:

  • accessible front-side fiber connectors
  • provisioning-free plug and play configuration
  • tunable laser technology that automatically attenuates for distance

The same system allows ICFN to provide service in multiple network configurations, including:

  • point-to-point GbE
  • point-to-multipoint GbE
  • Point-to-multidrop services up to 60 km

The SOLiD Technologies MediaC-1600 offers both cost and time-to-market advantage, according to Greg Stilwell, Managing Partner at InnerCity FiberNet, LLC. "We were looking for a technology which would allow us to be able to provide our customers GbE services into the client's building, or multiple GbE services to multiple clients on our fiber ring without stranding significant amounts of our fiber or forcing us to build additional fiber network."
